The head of SMD at the Grenadier Guards

(To Army Majority State)
27/12/16

The staff of the Lazio Umbria Abruzzo group, led by the brigade Granaders of Sardinia, engaged in the "Safe Roads" operation, received the visit of the Chief of the General Staff, Army Corps General Claudio Graziano, on Christmas Day.

Accepted by the commander of the brigade Granaders of Sardinia, Brigadier General Gaetano Lunardo, the high officer addressed his wishes to the soldiers present for the upcoming Christmas holidays, expressing their words of praise for the results achieved in carrying out the activities aimed at ensuring public order and safety in Rome, in competition and jointly with the police, during the Extraordinary Jubilee of Mercy.

General Graziano visited the operations room of the group, the real "beating heart" of the security device created by the Army for the "Safe Roads" operation, a structure that monitors operational activities in progress and supervises the direct management of events and emergencies, in "direct taking" and in full coordination with the operating rooms of the police headquarters and the provincial command of the carabinieri.

From the operating room it was possible to connect live streaming with some sites manned by the military in security service and make a video-conference with the event management room of the state police.

Finally, as usual, the Chief of the Defense Staff signed the honor register of the brigade Granaders of Sardinia and he left the "Gandin" barracks to go directly to some of the sites supervised by the Army and personally present his greetings to the military in service.
