In recent days the 185th parachute reconnaissance target acquisition regiment "Folgore" (RRAO) honored the memory of Sergeant Salvatore Marracino, an operator who passed away in the Iraqi theater of operations on 15 March 2005.

In particular, the traditional Trophy named after Sergeant Marracino took place in Livorno, headquarters of the RRAO. A team competition between all the staff in the department. The competition includes a relay race over a length of 300 meters with a weight of 16 kg, a shooting test with a pistol against a target at 25 meters and finally a swimming test, again as a relay, over a distance of 50 meters in a combat suit . The winner of the trophy, presented by the commander of the RRAO, Colonel Marco Margutti, was one of the teams of the III "Poggio Rusco" battalion, made up of operators from the operational team.

Furthermore, in the municipality of birth of the sergeant, San Severo in the province of Foggia, a delegation led by Brigadier General Andrea Vicari, commander of the Army special forces command (COMFOSE), visited the family.

On this occasion, the HERRING Association donated ten tablets to the "De Amicis" school, the school attended by Salvatore, who every year works to pass on to young students the memory of the Army soldier who died in the performance of his duty .
