The paratrooper sappers clear ten insidious plane bombs

The bomb squads of the 8th "Folgore" paratroopers, genius paratroopers, concluded an intense reclamation activity of war remnants dating back to the Second World War last Sunday.
The bombs, 10 Italian-made aircraft bombs weighing 100 kg each, had been found during the systematic remediation works within the area of ​​a construction site in the municipality of Vicenza.

After securing the area, the specialists of the "Folgore" brigade removed the insidious devices from the recovery site and then transported them to the blasting site (a quarry in the area) where they were definitively neutralized.

The operations involved the paratroopers of the 8th regiment also in the delicate preparatory phases for the reclamation activity where, thanks to the multiple capabilities of the structures (men, means and special equipment) that distinguish the operating units of the genius, they were designed and built structures to mitigate the effects caused by flares.

The complex reclamation operation was carried out in a frame of maximum security also in compliance with the measures issued by the government authorities regarding the fight against and containment of the infection by Corona Virus (COVID 19) and in close coordination with the prefecture of Vicenza and the command North Operating Forces of Padua.

Since the beginning of the year, the bomb squads of the 8th "Folgore" paratroopers genius regulator have carried out 92 remediation and neutralized over 200 devices of various types and nationalities. This heavy commitment has made it possible to guarantee a prompt, flexible and effective response to the service of the national community, despite the continuing health emergency "COVID 19".
