With the conclusion of the exercise "Fenicia 2014", held in Lamezia Terme from 14 to 18 July, the operational validation of the 43º Task Group "Italair" to be entered in the Lebanese operational theater was completed.

The activity, planned following a period of preparation and amalgamation, allowed the members of the flight group to immerse themselves in the reality of employment, in particular under the procedural profile, within the UNIFIL mission.

The scenario hypothesized and recreated geomorphologically in Calabria, provided for the conduct of flight missions, in simulated critical conditions, which the Task Group will be called to perform in Lebanon to support the mission, such as medical evacuation, transport, reconnaissance and fire prevention.

The Task Group, under the command of Lieutenant Colonel Nicola Basti, in the program of rotation of the group currently in Lebanon, commanded by Lieutenant Colonel Maurizio Sabbi, was validated by a team from the Operational Validation and Standardization Office of the Army Air Force Command.

The supervisors, also through day and night activations, verified the application of the operating procedures, making suggestions in the broad context of the flight, taking care of both the piloting profile and the maintenance and ground support profile.

The "Italair" Task Force, based in Naqoura in southern Lebanon, operates from the 1979 at the service of the United Nations.

The flight group, consisting of army aviation crews and navy and military air force crews, alternates in the theater of operations with six-monthly rotation, with the coordination of the army aviation command and the contribution of all the departments of the specialty, in particular the 2º "Sirio" regiment as department responsible for preparation.
