European fencing under 23: Gold for Italy

After the exhilarating performance of the caporal major Brenda Briasco of last Monday, when the athlete of the army conquered the title of European champion under 23 in the individual test of the sword, also last Friday, from the platforms of the fencing of the sports hall of Tbilisi in Georgia, the hymn of Mameli was heard to sing.

This thanks to the gold medal won by the women's team of the sword, composed by the major caporals Camilla Batini and Brenda Briasco and by the companions Luisa Tesserin and Federica Santandrea.

The day, which began with the clear victory of the Italians in the quarterfinals for 45 at 21 on the Azerbaijan representative, continued with the dispute of the semi-final against Russia, brilliantly closed to their advantage with the 45 score at 30.

Thanks to this result the doors of the final against Poland, in turn winning, in the quarterfinals and in the semifinals, respectively, were opened with Georgia for 45 at 23 and with Germany for 45 at 37 team the latter relegated to the dispute of the final for the 3 ° and 4 ° place against Russia, and lost to 45 at 32.

An encounter that was not very tight but that held between Italy and Poland; however, the quartet of the blue swords was able to harness the adversaries and after about 40 minutes of competition, with the 45 score at 36 in his favor, he managed to get on the highest step of the podium and deservedly win the European team title 2014.
