Army: first meeting between COCER and COIR

The Army Chief of Staff, Army Corps General Salvatore Farina, met in recent days in Rome, in the DIAZ room of Palazzo Esercito, the Armed Force Section of the Central Representative Council and the Intermediate Councils.

In this context, General Farina addressed a greeting to the delegates of the Councils present, stressing the importance of the activity carried out by the Military Representation in favor of all military personnel and highlighting the results that have been obtained with synergistic efforts; in particular, as part of an authorized meeting between COCER and COIR, an information activity was carried out on the effects of the recent measures to reorganize the roles and careers of military personnel.

The activity was a further occasion which confirmed the ongoing collaboration between the Armed Force and the Military Representation in the common perspective of working for a general improvement of all categories, also through an advance of promotions to the higher degree, a raising the age limits for participation in internal competitions and for the protection of personnel no longer suitable for unconditional military service.

As evidence of the attention paid to the protection of the needs of the staff and their families, General Farina wanted to share some data on the requests for transfer on demand for the rank and file troops, underlining how the Armed Force has arranged, in throughout 2019, more than 2.000 transfers or temporary assignments in accepting advanced requests, confirming the positive growth trend of these requests over the past 2 years.
Among the numerous issues addressed by General Farina, the following emerged: the construction of nursery schools, the areal review of the health service, the quality of life of the staff and the recovery of service accommodation.

It was also stressed how much the operation Safe Roads it continues to be a commitment for the Armed Force, especially as regards the staff employed, for which initiatives are being developed to improve the general conditions of the service and the housing situation, with a view to making it more dynamic and efficient.

High attention also on the important issue of infrastructural adaptation, the head of SME has in fact underlined the commitment of the Army in promoting every useful action to improve the housing situation of the departments in operation and, above all, in the cities where the situation is more critical.
