The first "Military Pilot Course" and "Military Crew Member" courses have been completed for Austrian crews on AW-169 helicopters, within the framework of the agreements stipulated between the Italian and Austrian governments.
The advanced training program on the new helicopter is part of the bilateral cooperation activities that the Italian Army, together with the national industry, maintains with the main partner and allied countries and involves the Army Aviation personnel and the his flight school.
The course, which was attended by 4 pilots and 2 technicians from theImplementation Team – Austrian AW169, began on 10 April 2023 at the “Leonardo Training Academy” in Sesto Calende (VA) with a first phase on FFS (Full Flight Simulator) and continued in Viterbo, at the AVES training center, on board the 'Austrian AW-169. Over the two months of training, a total of 130 hours of operational flight were achieved in tactical, night with the aid of NVG (Night Vision Googles) and mountain visors.
At the end of the course, a short ceremony was held for the delivery of the qualifications on the new machine.
