At the end of eight weeks of training, the exercises called Kinetic I / 7 "Operation Inherent Resolve (OIR)" and Kinetic I / 5 "Resolute" ended at the 2020th AVES "Vega" regiment and at the 2020th AVES "Rigel" regiment. Support Mission (RSM) ". The exercises were planned with the aim of consolidating operational capabilities and verifying the state of preparation of the “Fenice” and “Griffon” Task Groups.
The training activity, which took place in the "Francesco Baracca" airports of Casarsa della Delizia, "Giannetto Vassura di Miramare" in Rimini and surrounding areas, was conducted with the use of 5 UH-90 and 4 AH-129 "Mangusta" and using videoconferencing connection systems for the integration of the various components. The training was developed through missions of varying complexity and of increasing level between the different components used within the two Task Groups. This made it possible to test the level of training of the staff in full compliance with the national directives on the containment of the Covid-19 pandemic.
In particular, with the conduct of tactical activities and the study of multiple case studies, the result of the countless operational experiences gained abroad by the personnel belonging to the "Friuli" aircraft brigade, it was possible to refine the synergy between the personnel of the 66th Infantry Regiment “Trieste” aircraft and the crews of the 7th AVES “Vega” regiment, the 5th AVES “Rigel” regiment and the Army aviation command. Among the personnel in preparation belonging to the “Rigel”, also the first female pilot qualified on UH-90, at her debut in operational use.
The commander of the aircraft brigade, General Stefano Lagorio, was able to evaluate what was expressed by the units in the field, expressing deep satisfaction for the conduct of the exercises that crowned a long training process that saw all the departments of the aircraft brigade engaged.
