Defuse two plane bombs at the Orio al Serio airport

At the international airport of Orio al Serio (BG), the remediation activities of two aircraft bombs found during maintenance works have recently been completed.

The bombs, of the type ANM 57 GP (Army Navy Model 57 General Puropse) of American manufacture, were found with the fuzes still functioning.

Once the necessary procedures for securing the area were carried out, the Army specialists defused the device between the 9: 00 and the 13: 00.

Subsequently, the bomb was transported to a nearby quarry where it was safely blasted.

Over the past year the specialists of the 10th Engineers Regiment defused over 970 bombs in 134 interventions carried out.The 10th Engineers Regiment is one of the 12 Army Engineers Regiments able to intervene for the reclamation of explosive devices and of war remnants.Each Engineers Regiment has jurisdiction over a part of the national territory, during the last year the Army bomb squads have performed over 2500 specialized interventions for the reclamation of ordnance throughout the peninsula, over 30000 those carried out in the last 10 years.
