Competition for marksmen in Lithuania

The 13th edition of the "International Shooting Competition Snipers Fest" ended in Rukla (Lithuania), a competitive activity held from 14 to 18 June in which groups also took part. Tycoons Selected of the Italian Army.

The event saw the participation of 90 teams from different countries around the world, including Germany, Estonia, Belgium, Holland, Canada, United Kingdom, Norway, Spain and Latvia, for a total of about 200 civilian and military participants. divided into three different shooting categories: semi-automatic, open and standard.

The teams of the Italian Army that participated come from the Infantry School and the 7th Alpine Regiment and during the five days of competition they carried out intense activities of various types: precision shooting, timed shooting, shooting over distances from 50 to 500 meters and, finally, the dynamic engagement of a target.

Excellent results achieved by the Italian military, who finished at the top of the final ranking, with the 3rd place for the Alpine troops of the 7th regiment out of 80 pairs of soldiers from all over the world. The placement of the Infantry School team in the first twenty positions was also good. The two Alpini of the “Julia” achieved significant results also in the individual ranking, in which they placed themselves in 2nd and 11th place out of about 200 participants.

THEInternational Shooting Competition Snipers Fest, carried out in compliance with the restrictive measures in force referring to the contagion from COVID-19, as well as representing an important moment to promote and nourish the tradition of "sniper" shooting, aims to increase collaboration between the armies of the various countries. The growing synergy of the military in the international arena is fundamental today, by virtue of the constant commitment of our country in the sector of multinational cooperation.

Sharpshooters are troops trained to operate in compartmentalized terrain and extreme climatic conditions. The Army places high reliance on these specialized units, as they represent an effectiveness multiplier for conducting operations in hostile environments.
