The ceremony, presided over by the general of the army corps Giovanni Fungo, commander of the land operational forces and of the Army operational command, in which the civil, religious and local military authorities and a representation of theNational Aviation Association of the Army, took place in compliance with the anti Covid-19 regulations.

General Fungo, in his greeting address to all military and civilian personnel present, expressed words of thanks, underlining how important it is "The attachment, admiration and affection that the country, in particular the city of Viterbo, express towards the blue berets." He then continued: "Just as an NH-90 helicopter flies thanks to the efficiency and perfect assembly of about 350 different components, so the Aves expresses its potential to the fullest thanks to an incessant synergistic commitment of all its parts, driven by a single engine. central: its own staff. General Riccò ends his command period after four years and eight months at the helm of the Azzurri. In his greeting speech, he thanked the men and women of the Army Aviation for the passion and professionalism with which they have always ensured the precious support in the third dimension to the Armed Force and to the country.

"It was an intense and at the same time exciting period" - said the outgoing commander - "In step with the changes, the Army Aviation has continued to operate, both nationally and internationally, in a vast and diversified field of action, from the forest fire campaign to the fight against the pandemic, always with the same spirit of service that puts our country first ".

Major General Di Stasio, in his inauguration speech, after having addressed a respectful greeting to the War Flags of all the AVES departments and a moving thought to the Fallen and wounded of the "blue family", expressed his pride for the assumption of the prestigious command. "I am honored to be able to face the challenges that await us with you" - underlined the new commander - "Aware of the fact that the Army Aviation represents one of the souls of society and of the history of the city of Viterbo and beyond".

The handover between the two commanders takes place in the year in which the Army Aviation celebrates the seventieth year of its constitution. General Riccò will take on a new post at the military command of the capital. General Di Stasio assumes command of AVES after leaving that of the “Sassari” brigade in Sardinia.
