Operational Forces South command change

This morning in Naples, in the courtyard of Palazzo "Salerno", the ceremony for the change in command of the southern operational forces. In the presence of the army chief of staff, general Pietro Serino, of the military and civil authorities, the army corps general Giuseppenicola Tota handed over the command to the parigrade Giovanni Maria Iannucci.

General Serino, in an excited voice, in greeting a friend and a soldier, recalled: “I'm really glad that you, as you wanted, ended your career in command of men and women. Through your actions, even making difficult, risky decisions and making important choices, you have consistently put service and love of the uniform you wear before yourself. I can only thank you for the example you have always set for us”.

General Tota thanked the staff of COMFOP Sud and of the dependent departments, expressing his feelings of esteem and gratitude for the work and the loyal collaboration offered during his period of command which allowed the southern operational forces to stand out for their efficiency and professionalism. He then addressed a moved greeting to the large family of the Army, which he leaves at the end of about 44 years of service, during which he faithfully followed the values ​​and principles of the oath sworn as a young officer of the Military Academy, and a special thanks to his family for his support throughout his career.

Gen. Iannucci assumes command of COMFOP Sud at the end of his mandate as commander of the NATO Mission Iraq.
