At this particular moment in our country, affected by the emergency of Covid-19, the 2nd Air Force support regiment of the "Orion" Army, as part of social protection activities, between April 27 and May 5, 2020, has provided for the distribution of comfort food for about a hundred poor families in the city of Bologna.
This initiative, of particular humanitarian importance, strongly desired by the commander of the 2nd Orion, col. Vincenzo Recano joins the normal role of regimental institute, relating to technical logistical support and maintenance of the efficiency of the UH 90 helicopters used in the operating theater and precisely in these days, on the national territory, in favor of the civilian population.
The initiative, which received the approval of the local authorities, was made possible thanks to the financial contribution of all the staff of the Regiment which allowed a fundraiser in favor of the most needy families, as well as the FAMILA supermarket chain in Bologna, which to the request for the purchase of food, he totally donated the collected food.
This initiative, supported by the military chaplain, the parish priests of Bologna, CARITAS and the ONLUS Association "Hospitality Service for Life" in Bologna, was born under the sign of solidarity and integrates the institutional tasks of the Army Aviation with the spirit of generosity of men and women of the 2nd Orion in favor of the citizens most affected by the emergency.
