Arsenal in the garden, intervention by the bomb squad of the Taurinense

Last Friday 85 bombs, 2 machine guns and numerous loaders of World War II were found, in good condition and with intact destructive potential, in a private garden in Davagna (Genoa) by the specialists of the 32 ° genius regiment of the Taurinense alpine brigade.

Only two rockets and a few chargers had been reported, re-emerged from the ground during excavation work, but army specialists, who intervened at the request of the Genoa prefecture, discovered a small arsenal; a probably partisan hideout that concealed 29 DZE39 grenades, 56 anti-tank rockets M6, 2 machine guns and more than 5000 cartridges, all made in the USA.

It took two days of work to safely remove the material, assess the danger of each artifice and transport it to the Camaldoli quarry (Forte Ratti), where a suitable area was found to destroy it by blasting.

For the specialists of the Alpine Brigade Taurinense - who boast valuable experience gained also in missions abroad - this is the 72 ° intervention since the beginning of the year in the area of ​​land reclamation from war remnants in Piedmont, Liguria and Valle d 'Aosta.
