The 32nd tank regiment, on the 80th anniversary of the battle of Beda Fomm, fought in North Africa on February 8, 1941, recalled with the deposition of a laurel wreath at the monument of the "Forgiarini" barracks in Tauriano , the tankers who fell during the military events in the Second World War.

In the battle of Beda Fomm, which lasted four days of intense and bloody clashes, the 11rd and XNUMXth Italian tank battalions, fighting against the largest English forces of the XNUMXth and XNUMXth Brigade Hussars, allowed the retreat of the infantry and artillery that proceeded along the Via Balbia and the coast to the south, in order to escape the circumvention by the XNUMXth British army corps. The Italian tanks were destroyed or immobilized, the British advance was stopped.

At the end of the deposition theBlue Ribbon Institute, an association that brings together all Italian medal medals for military valor from the Wars of Independence, has given the commander of the 32nd tank regiment, Colonel Gian Luigi Radesco, the certificate of appointment of the unit as Honorary Member. The prestigious recognition was granted to the 32nd regiment for the significant role it played in carrying out its institutional tasks.

The wagon unit, used several times in the national territory in the "Safe Roads" operation and currently included among the highly ready forces for NATO Readiness Initiative, in these days, together with other assets of the "Aries" brigade, is preparing to participate in important international exercises organized within the operational framework of the Atlantic Alliance.
