"Action Day" in Terra dei Fuochi

The Army and Police Forces continue the investigations on the illegalities in the waste disposal cycle relating to specific production categories inserted in certain territorial areas, according to a coordinated planning by the Prefectures of Naples and Caserta, on the indications of the Person in charge for combating the phenomenon of fires in the Campania Region.

The Army soldiers, in collaboration with the police forces, carried out, yesterday, several extraordinary checks of the territory in the Municipality of Casamarciano and Palma Campania (Na) and Capua and Santa Maria Capua Vetere (Ce).

On the field, 23 crews for a total of 54 joint forces belonging to the group Campania of the Army (based on 21st Caserta Engineers Regiment), the Metropolitan Police of Naples and the Provincial Police of Caserta, the Forestry Carabinieri of Marigliano (Na), the "ROAN" of the Guardia di Finanza of Naples, the Guardia di Finanza of Nola (Na), Capua (Ce) and "dog section" Aversa (CE), to the State Police of Nola (Na) and Santa Maria Capua Vetere (Ce), to the Municipal Police of Capua (Ce) and to the ARPAC of Caserta .

16 business and commercial activities were controlled, of which 7 were seized and 2 sanctioned; 93 people identified, of which 15 reported as illegal workers and guilty of environmental crimes; 51 vehicles checked and seized; approximately 2900 square meters of seized areas and over 16 thousand euros of fines imposed.

The alleged offenses are those of illegal waste management and disposal and processing of waste. An added value to the operations was also given by the use of drones (from the 41st "Cordenons" regiment), an Army resource placed at the service of the "control room" of Operation "Terra dei Fuochi" which contributed to the identification of objectives.
