A few days ago, at the detachment of the “Serenissima” lagoon regiment, the 80th “Alfa” amphibious qualification course which, at the end of an intense five-week training cycle, saw thirty new qualifiers.

During the course the students learned to know and use the means, materials and equipment supplied to the lagoons, and they acquired the basic technical and tactical skills to operate in an amphibious, lagoon and "riverine" environment.

The course, conducted under the supervision of highly qualified instructors of military amphibious combat techniques (IMTCA) and in line with the training objectives established by the command North Operating Forces of the Army, engaged the students in the military district of Malcontenta, to conduct land training, and on the Vignole island in Venice, for training with AAV7 amphibious wagons and boats.

Amphibious training represents an indispensable condition for the lagoon in order to remain in the unit and become part of the amphibious component of the Army.

At the end of the course, the commander of the detachment, Lieutenant Colonel Bruno Freda, congratulated the newly qualified, who were given the green beret by the instructors of the fellow courses.

The newly qualified can wear the merit badge of amphibious qualification, established in March 2021 and, since then, present in the Army uniform regulations.
