In the morning, the new Alfa Romeo was presented inside the barracks named after the Silver Medal of Military Valor, General Azolino Hazon, headquarters of the general command of the Carabinieri Tonal Hybrid which has officially entered the Arma's fleet.

The event took place in the presence of the commanding general gen. ca Teo Luzi, the CEO of Alfa Romeo, Jean Philippe Imparato, the country manager of Stellantis in Italy, Santo Ficili, as well as the heads of the general staff of the general command of the carabinieri.

The vehicle will be destined for mobile radios from all over Italy and will support the Alfa Romeo Giulia AT8 200hp to make the carabinieri's emergency intervention even more efficient. The traditional speed and promptness of intervention of these cars has meant that over the years they have earned the popular nickname of "Gazelle". The symbols of these departments, in fact, are the lightning bolt and the leaping gazelle.

For the first time among the vehicles of the mobile radios a passenger car of the C-SUV segment is introduced. This diversification allows greater versatility in carrying out the service, as well as a significant increase in the level of comfort guaranteed to the operating personnel, especially useful for long shifts.

The model of Alfa Romeo Tonal presented today is equipped with the 1.5 horsepower 163 hybrid (petrol/electric) engine with 7-speed TCT automatic transmission. The car, built in the traditional mobile radio livery (blue and red with a white roof), is equipped with partial armor plating for the protection of the military, a single cell for the safe transport of arrested persons, as well as a two-tone electronic siren and blue flashing lights with led lights. The interior fittings have been rethought and modified to allow maximum comfort for the military and the housing of specific equipment (bulletproof vests, high visibility torches, long guns, etc.).

The decision to adopt latest generation hybrid vehicles is a further step in the Arma's commitment to environmental protection, an area in which it is at the forefront of being the largest environmental police force in Europe.
