Brigadier General Niave Knell, commander of the US Army Military Police Corps Regiment (MPRA) has granted the prestigious Friend of the MPRA Award to the Brigadier General of the Carabinieri Giovanni Pietro Barbano, director of CoESPU, center of excellence for stability police units based in Vicenza, and two other non-commissioned officers of the Carabinieri.

Established in 2018, the award is given to those who have provided over the years, and often on the occasion of important peace operations in various parts of the world, a significant contribution in terms of morale and well-being towards the soldiers belonging to the Military Police Corps Regiment and their families.

General Barbano was awarded the honor by virtue of his twenty-year considerable contribution in the professional growth of soldiers belonging to the US Army military police stationed in Europe.

The recognition was presented by Colonel Rebecca D. Hazelett, deputy director of CoESPU and by sergeant major Joel Zecca, in charge of the protection and surveillance service of SETAF-AF, the two highest-ranking members of the US military police in Italy.

The ceremony was held this morning at the "Chinotto" Barracks, during the week of the 80th anniversary of the founding of the US Army Military Police Corps.
