The countermove of the US Navy to operate in environments protected by the latest generation systems like the Russian S-400 is now official. This is a new high-speed tactical technology called "Tactical Targeting Network Technology" which will be implemented on all Boeing EA-18G Growler of the US Navy.

Enhanced hardware will allow for Growler to coordinate efforts against enemy systems that proliferate worldwide according to the provisions of the Naval Integrated Fire Control-Counter Air (NIFC-CA).

According to Boeing, the updates include an advanced targeting processor, high bandwidth datalinks and a new display integrated with the mission system of the Growler"New updates are needed to keep pace with evolving threats. The long-range targeting system is now considered essential to anticipate enemy electronic countermeasures ".

The tests carried out have validated the tactic that involves the use of more Growler to generate what is defined as "weapons quality track" against enemy emissions. The ideal training in a context that presents several mobile threats involves the use of three Growler advanced connected to an early warning system Hawkeye E-2D remotely. The latter, in the dual role of a control platform for guided armament and the ability to identify low-generation platforms of low observability, does not have the offensive capabilities of the fighter.

The new tactic is considered fundamental in the Navy's strategy to fight in an environment dominated by advanced air defense systems such as the S-400 Arc and the Chinese HQ-9.

“Il Targeting Technology Network it operates in networking and allows video and data to be instantly and accurately shared from a dynamic battlefield so as to meet the rapidly evolving needs of modern contexts ".
