The Islamic State, the terrible terrorist organization that has shocked the world for its cruelty and violence against the defenseless, the fundamentalist movement that has made its mark on the sex market by making unimaginable atrocities, is afraid of the Russians.

Perhaps the word that best describes the attitude of al-Baghdadi and his men ready for martyrdom is "terror". Terror of the Russians.

The confirmation comes from an episode, which has no precedent in the short (but unfortunately already long) life of the caliphate. The Islamic State has canceled Friday prayers in the Syrian city of Raqqa and emptied the mosques for fear of Russian air strikes.

We have repeated this several times in recent months, ever since we started following the Syrian chessboard. The Russians, they are how much worse the fundamentalists could meet for their rules of engagement, different from those westerners.

Moscow, which has always claimed to act in compliance with international law, has a modus operandi different from the American one. And to understand the different tactical approach, it would be enough to analyze the first attacks in the "capital" of the Islamic State in Syria with Russian planes that in the last hours have eliminated 12 jihadists while they were going to pray. Last Thursday, a mosque in the city of Jisr al-Shughour, captured by Islamic rebels earlier this year, was razed to the ground.

According to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, the terrorists of the Islamic State "are afraid to die praying".
