The counter-offensive by the Syrian army north of the city of Homs began at 5,30 this morning. It is the third major offensive of loyalist forces since the beginning of October.
According to the Syrians, the entire area of Homs is under the control of the Islamic State and the al-Nusra front. The large-scale attack began after a massive air raid and heavy artillery by the Russians.
The first major Syrian army offensive began near Hama. Assad's troops went as far as Idlib province.
The second offensive went into the suburb of Jobar, in Damascus, where it is believed that the mortar shells that struck the Russian embassy a few days ago have been exploded.
