An untold number of cruise missiles launched by Russian ships and destined for targets in Syria reportedly crashed in Iran. The news, just broken on CNN citing intelligence sources, has not yet been confirmed by Moscow.

According to the American secret services monitoring the region, at least four missiles have crashed in Syrian territory. There may also be casualties. The missiles, we recall that for the first time the Russians used the new 'Kaliber' system in real combat conditions, were launched from the Caspian Sea by four units.

I Kaliber they reached targets north of Syria by flying over western Iran and northern Iraq about 1500 km away. The 26 cruise missiles were launched by the Dagestan, “Gepard” class missile frigate and by the Buyan class corvettes, Grad Sviyazhsk, Uglich and Veliky Ustyug. According to the Russian Defense Ministry, all missiles would hit targets.

If the American version were confirmed, at least four carriers would not have reached the target, crashing into Iranian territory.

The United States and Russia have not yet established a reliable communication channel to avoid incidents between forces operating in Syrian airspace.
