"Without A-10, we won't be able to fight North Korea"

"If you withdraw A-10 and if a war breaks out, we will no longer be able to destroy North Korean tanks." The commander of US forces in South Korea, General Curtis Scaparrotti, did not use words of speech a few hours ago in a chamber hearing.

"Without the A-10s, we should rework our strategy for a different use of the air and ground forces".

The Air Force desperately needs to ensure a steady flow of dollars to the F-35 program that one day should replace the A-10 that the Pentagon would like to retire (for the umpteenth time). But the ability to pulverize the tanks with the A-10 depleted uranium projectiles is not yet matched by the F-35 which, in a few months, will enter service without a cannon and with limited combat capability.

Scaparrotti intervened after the first final report of the F-35 (v.articolo), with the first version that will not be able to overcome the Warthog and its powerful cannon. The F-35 Block 2B that in July will be delivered to the Marine Corps, will be able to carry only four bombs. The F-35 will only be able to shoot with the cannon from the 2019.

The United States has about 28.000 soldiers stationed in South Korea by the 1953, when the war ended with an armistice.
