Seal Team 6: "Only the wicked have to weep, for them we are the death"

They have carried out secret missions in Somalia and Afghanistan, operating from bases that do not officially exist. They conducted incursions into enemy territory in the middle of the night, using every type of weapon: from systems never shown to the public to primordial tomahawks.

They disguised themselves as postmen, traders, young couples in love on an excursion, carrying out espionage missions and targeting leaders. These are some of the operations of the secret history of Seal Team Six, one of the most secret and least known organizations on the planet.

That which became famous for the elimination of Osama Bin Laden, is a unit that has been training for decades in the manhunt, formed by the best 'Hunter Killers' on the planet. The new American philosophy of the 'Six' no longer takes into account the victories or defeats on the battlefield, but the elimination of hostile leaders who could lead to a war.

Everything about the 6 SEAL Team - explained by the Special Operations Command - is shrouded in mystery.

The Pentagon itself does not publicly recognize that name, even if the deeds of unity have become history (and legend). While regular troops waged a war of attrition in Afghanistan and Iraq, the 6 Team carried out espionage missions, performing different tasks.

Team 6 snipers are also trained to carry out clandestine intelligence operations, while the Omega Program, led by the Central Intelligence Agency, offered a new perspective in targeting targets. The 'Six' have successfully carried out thousands of raids (never made public) by weakening the command lines of the rebel military networks.

Killers are trained to win or die on the battlefield by providing maximum damage to the enemy. Trying to find out something about the SEAL Team Six is absolutely impossible, considering that every information is classified.

All Team Six operations are managed by the Joint Special Operations Command. Even the American Congress is not interested in the 6 Team. Just to clarify the concept even better: the Navy SEALs have a virtually unlimited budget that cannot be reduced by law. Billions of dollars have been spent by the 6 Team since the 2001, when the department increased support for 300 operators and 1500 personnel to meet new needs. Many, however, start to wonder if the incessant pace of operations has eroded the elite culture of unity and worn down the 6 team in small-scale combat missions.

Killing someone - says a former member of Team 6 - is serious. Once in battle, bring out the worst in you. But once in battle, you also bring out the best in you.

Teams from SEAL Team Six and its army counterpart, Delta Force, have been engaged in Syria, Iraq, Afghanistan, Somalia and Yemen and other areas of the planet classified. If with drones, for example, it is possible to evaluate their effectiveness on the battlefield, so it does not happen for the Six because of the level of secrecy that surrounds the whole department.

Over the years, many have mistaken the 6 Team for a pizzeria - said former Senator Bob Kerrey, a Nebraska Democrat - with constant calls for missions of very little or for operations that could be carried out by other branches of the military. But our leaders rely so heavily on them, that when they want absolute certainty of victory, they line up the Six.

The Special Operations Command of the United States emphasizes that after the 11 September 2001 attacks, Team Six was involved in tens of thousands of missions and operations in multiple geographic theaters. After the Taliban fled from Afghanistan, the SEALs were forbidden any incursion into Pakistani territory to avoid political embarrassment with the White House. Operations mostly limited to the Bagram air base, outside Kabul. Restrictions that did not apply to the CIA and Team Six that started to carry out clandestine operations in Pakistani territory.

The Omega Program missions have allowed the Seal to conduct "secret operations" against the Taliban and other militants in Pakistan. 'Omega' was modeled on the 'Phoenix Program', applied in Vietnam and conducted by the CIA and special departments to dismantle the Viet Cong guerrillas in South Vietnam.

The escalation of the conflict in Iraq, in the 2006, required a constant increase in the presence of the Six, while in Afghanistan, the Taliban forces resumed their reorganization. It was then that the Joint Special Operations Command reworked the strategy of the Seal Six Team. Team Six has carried out an endless series of missions, but there are no public data. It is known, for example, that 6 Team operators made sorties in Afghanistan between the 2006 and the 2008. For several weeks, the Six have eliminated 25 targets at night.

We killed without respite - says a former Team Six official - after a while you also get used to it, like drinking coffee. Unfortunately this is what we do, but for the bad we have no mercy.

Special operations commanders say the raids have helped dismantle the Taliban networks. Like the Navy Seals, Team Six has unlimited funds that the Naval Special Warfare uses for the development of new classified tactics and equipment. Among these, for example, are the thermobaric grenades, particularly suitable for crushing a building.

The new strategy of the Pentagon, leaves no way out: "the more we use Seal, the more weapons we can carry, the less enemies are likely to remain alive".
