The construction site of the sixth class submarine Yasen, Perm, was officially opened with a small ceremony that took place in Severodvinsk. The Russian Admiralty announces that the Sevmash shipbuilding company will start production on the seventh and last unit of the fleet Yasen in June next year. The fleet Yasen, seven units planned, will also be equipped with supersonic cruise missiles Kalibr. A missile almost impossible to break down considering its ability to deflect flight path, altitude and the hypersonic speed of the warhead. A weapon designed primarily to counter aircraft carriers.
The contracts signed by the Russian Ministry of Defense and the United Shipbuilding Corporation as part of the arms procurement program, provide equipment for the whole since the 2020. With a range of approximately 2.000 km, the supersonic 3M-54 Kalibr it can be boarded on submarines and small battle units. The missile is able to carry both a conventional and a nuclear warhead. The improvements proposed by the Russian Navy commission have been implemented in the K-561 Win, K-573 Novosibirsk, K-571 Krasnoyarsk and the K-564 Arhangel'sk, respectively second, third, fourth and fifth submarine of the class. They will be part of the 885M Project, the class Yasen-M updated.
The second class submarine Yasen will enter service by the end of the year.
