The entire Russian Sukhoi-27 fleet was grounded following the crash of an aerobatic patrol aircraft. The decision was taken by the Russian Ministry of Defense.

A few hours ago, one of the six fighters Sukhoi Su-27, flying with the "Russian Knights" (Russian Knights), crashed near the village of Muranovo, in the Pushkino district of the Moscow region. The pilot died. The aircraft crashed away from the residential area and no further damage to persons or property was reported.

The "Russian Knights" squadron was returning after having carried out some maneuvers on the occasion of the inauguration of a monument to the memory of the aviators in Ashukino.

Preliminary analyzes of the accident suggest that this could have been a technical failure.

The pilot, major Sergey Eremenko of 34 years, may have remained at the controls of the fighter until the end, taking the aircraft away from residential areas, sacrificing himself. Thesis also supported by the Ministry of Defense.

Major Eremenko, squad leader of the Russian Cavalry aerobatic team, gained experience with the MiG-29 and Su-27 with 800 flight hours in his military career. He joined the Russian Knights in the 2011. Leave a wife and two daughters.
