Next-generation Russian doomsday aircraft will be put into production within the next seven years. This is what they declared from the United Instrument Engineering Corporation to the Tass agency.

The Russian Ministry of Defense currently has the second generation of the "plane of the day judgment" system on line, but the third version of the class is already in an advanced development phase. Judgment day planes are designed to protect the national authority in critical situations with a hostile nuclear attack that, in the first strike, would be directed to the beheading of the entire chain of command and communication. Such aerial platforms are able to coordinate the entire strategic inventory, communicate with all the armed forces and are specifically designed to withstand the effects of electromagnetic pulses (EMP) and thermal nuclear explosions.

The "doomsday planes" line is always pre-referenced, 24 hours on 24, both in Russia and in the United States. Contrary to what one might think, Americans and Russians have in service not one but two command aircraft (and two in reserve) always available at any time.

The platform chosen by the White House is the E-4B. The Kremlin, on the other hand, is based on the Ilyushin-86 (photo).
