The era of class submarines officially begins Yasen, Project 885M. Work on the K-561 submarine Win are officially concluded. The unit will be officially delivered tomorrow and will start sea trials before entering service with the Russian Navy by the end of the year.

The fourth generation multirole nuclear attack submarine class Yasen (designation NATO Graney), has a displacement in immersion of 13.800 tons. It is 119 meters long, with a maximum speed of thirty one knots under water. It can dive up to 600 meters, with an operating depth of 500. It has a crew of ninety men, including thirty-two officers: this confirms a high degree of automation achieved.

It is probably one of the most powerful nuclear-powered attack submarines ever entered service in the Russian admiralty and takes precedence over the class Virginia US.

The specifications of Project 885 include a double non-magnetic steel hull so as to reduce the acoustic trace and a greater survival capacity of the boat compared to the Akula I / II. From the latter inherits part of the design. The single-shaft is powered by a OK-650V fourth-generation 200 MW pressurized water-cooled thermo-nuclear reactor manufactured by Afrikantov OKBM. The command tower has an oval hydrodynamic shape, while the hull is divided into ten compartments.

the class Yasen is designed to launch cruise missiles with conventional or nuclear warheads, engage submarines and surface units and target coastal targets. In primary form, each Yasen submarine carries 24/32 cruise missiles on eight vertical launch tubes. Eight 650 mm and two 533 mm torpedo tubes.

The K-560 Severodvinsk (photo and video), first and only attack Russian submarine project 885 class Yasen, was delivered on 17 June 2014. Its long operational evaluation ended in the spring of 2016, however it was delivered to the Navy with many doubts. The K-560 subsequently successfully completed four sea trials.

The K-561 Win Progetto 885M must be understood as the first unit of the class that implements substantial improvements based on the lessons learned from the long development process of the original 885. The K-561 Win, K-573 Novosibirsk, K-571 Krasnoyarsk and the K-564 Arhangel'sk, respectively the second, third, fourth and fifth submarines of the class, are part of the 885M Project, the class Yasen updated. The construction site of the sixth class Yasen submarine, the Perm, was officially opened last July. Sevmash Shipbuilding Company, will start production of the seventh and last unit of the fleet next June.

the class Yasen Project 885 / 885M, will be operational by 2023 and will replace class submarines Oscar ed Akula. Every class submarine Yasen has an average cost of 1,5 billion dollars, the equivalent of a Los Angeles and a third of the class Seawolf. The average cost of the class Virginia is 2,7 billion dollars.
