"The Islamic State is a global terrorist organization ". This was stated by Russian President Vladimir Putin to US journalist Charlie Rose in an interview aired yesterday on CBS.
"It has become unique because it is global. They set a goal: to establish a caliphate that extends from Portugal to Pakistan. They have already claimed the importance of sacred Islamic sites such as Mecca and Medina. Their actions and activities are going well beyond the borders of the territories under their control, we must help the army of President al-Assad, no other country is doing it, I want you and the American public to realize that no one except the army of al-Assad is fighting against ISIS and other terrorist organizations in Syria, no one else is fighting them on Syrian territory.
Allied air strikes? Therefore, they do not solve the problem. In essence, they did not cause any harm to the terrorists. The attacks should be coordinated in the field, but we know that this does not happen. Russia will not participate in any field operations, at least for now. However, we are intensifying our work with both President al-Assad and our partners (China and Iran). Our armed forces will not take part directly in hostilities and will not fight. There would be no war if these terrorist groups had not been financed. I have the feeling that someone wants to use ISIS in order to overthrow al-Assad.
The Islamic State is a pretext. People do not flee from President al-Assad, but from terrorist atrocities".
