Last week the Swedish company Saab (Svenska Aeroplan AktieBolaget) presented its Gripen E: latest update of the multirole fighter of the "Grifone" family.

The prototype of the Gripen E, evolution of Gripen C / D focused on improving operational longevity, general systems, payload, communications, performance, avionics, and interface equipment Human Machine Interface (HMI) /sensor fusion.

The new Gripen will be equipped with a radar Active Electronically Scanned Array (EASA), Infra Red Search and Track (IRST), and equipment for Electronic Warfare (EW) at the forefront.

At the presentation in the prototype signed 39-08 it was present that the commander of the Força Aérea Brasileira, Nivaldo Luiz Rossato, whose government has already signed the order for the purchase of 36 Gripen NG.

Il Gripon E aims to be more competitive in the latest generation multi-role fighter market, and to beat its direct competitors such as the Flurry produced by the French Dassault Aviation andEFA 2000 produced by the collaboration of Leonardo (formerly Finmeccania) BAE Systems and Airbus Group.

The previous configuration of the Gripen, the C / D, is currently in force in the air forces of South Africa, the Czech Republic, Hungary and Thailand.
