Under repair since last May at the 82 yard, in Roslyakovo, in the Murmansk region, the flagship of the Russian navy is now ready to return to its base in Severomorsk. It is what they radiate from the Ria Novosti quoting Russian Navy sources.

During 90 days, theAdmiral Kuznetsov it underwent work on the electro-mechanical equipment and some components of the ship's transmission were replaced.

Further modernization interventions will be carried out shortly before rejoining the Northern Fleet.

L'Admiral Kuznetsov (Admiral Kuznetsov) is the only carrier of Russia and is currently the only carrier in the world to operate at polar latitudes.

THEheavy cruiser missile aircraft carrier, this the correct Russian wording (thus circumvented the Montreux Convention), uses the Short Take Off But Arrested Recovery or STOBAR system for take-off and landing of aircraft.

Built at the Mykolaiv Sud Shipyard (now Ukraine) in the mid-'80 years, theAdmiral Kuznetsov it became fully operational only in 1995, due to the drastic cuts to the Russian defense budget following the collapse of the Soviet Union.

The ship, designed to hit large surface targets and protect sea routes from enemy attacks, is able to transport fixed and rotary-wing aircraft, including the Su-41UTG and Su-52, among the 25 and 33. the Ka-27 and Ka-29 helicopters.
