Indonesia will fly on Su-35, the multi-role fighters of 4 generation of Sukhoi built in Russia by KnAAPO (Komsomolsk-on-Amur Aircraft Production Association). The announcement was made by the Indonesian Defense Minister, Ryamizard Ryacudu, who during an interview for the news agency Bloomberg stated that his country will buy 8 or 10 units of the latest updated version of the Su-27 multi-role fighter (name in Nato code 'Flanker').

The contract will be signed during his next visit to Russia, scheduled for the current month.

Indonesia has preferred Russian hunting to the Eurofighter Typhoon produced by BAE Plc, Finmeccanica, Airbus Defance & Space, at JAS 39 Gripen of the SAAB and to the F-16 V of Lockheed Martin: aircraft already widely used by the TNI-AU (Indonesian military aviation).

This order is part of a 'necessary' reinforcement of the Indonesian air force which, according to the minister, must replace the most outdated devices.
