Colombia receives ten new ships to curb drug trafficking

The United States International Bureau of Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs has donated six new vessels to Colombia to support efforts to stem drug trafficking.

According to Colombian Defense Minister Juan Carlos Pinzon they represent an important aid that increases the ability to intercept the tons of cocaine of drug trafficking, to defeat crime and drug trafficking in Colombia, the main objective of cooperation with the United States.

In addition to ships, training will be provided to crews at the International Coast Guard School and the International Maritime Analysis Center for Narcotraffic (CIMCON). Four more boats will be assigned to carry out maritime interdiction operations.

Rapid reaction units are Apostle 410 T-Tops, long 41 feet (approximately 12,5 meters).
