Israel: the USA rearm the IAF Storms

Details of the possible sale were delivered to Congress after being approved by the Pentagon. This is stated in an official note from the US Department of Defense. If finalized, Israel will receive a full supply of precision-guided ammunition including 750 "bunker-buster" bombs, 3.000 Hellfire missiles, 250 medium-range air-to-air missiles and 4.100 "glide" bombs.

The supply also includes 14,500 guidance systems, known as "tail kits" for Joint Direct Attack Munitions that convert unguided bombs into GPS-guided missiles.

The weapons - they write from the Department of Defense - will improve Israel's military capabilities and strengthen cooperation between the two countries.

"The United States will always guarantee Israel's security and it is vital for US national interests to develop and maintain our ally's strong capacity for self-defense."

The main contractors would include Boeing, Lockheed Martin, General Dynamics and Raytheon.

The legislators have fifteen days to block the sale, but this action is rare: the proposals, in fact, are carefully checked before being formally notified to the Congress.

According to the Defense Security Cooperation Agency, Israel has requested supplies for weapons it uses. Probably (and looking at the supply one can guess) Israel must re-equip all the IAF flocks after the Gaza war last summer.

According to Israeli media, the United States and Israel are treating other business (for other advanced weapon systems) linked to negotiations with Iran.

Israel would have accepted the nuclear deal with Iran in exchange for advanced weapons (including the F-35).

Israel receives three billion dollars each year in military aid from the United States.
