ISIS, new video: "Blowing up hostages". The analysis of the movie

A video has been published a few hours ago by the media branch of the Islamic State that immortalizes the new and horrible way of "killing" the prisoners. The video, of just under three minutes, was shot in an unknown place in Afghanistan.

For editorial choice we will not attach the link, but looking at the photos it is easy to imagine what really happened. In detail, the video presents the same characteristics as the previous ones with Isis signature: background music, logo, good quality images turned on shoulder, some with HD detail. Do not miss the continuous replays slow to art, as if to highlight the role of the commander in chief who with a pat on the shoulder, greets the prisoners who are going to die.

The ten prisoners are blindfolded and led to the point where they are forced to kneel. They do not know that under them, the terrorists buried explosive charges which, a few minutes later, detonated in unison, turning apostates into shreds.

The victims should belong to the Shinwari tribe and have been accused of aiding the Taliban in the Afghan province of Nangarhar, where the caliphate's troops were recently expelled. Among them are also some men convicted of helping the Afghan government counteract the insurgency in a country bled by decades of wars and internal conflicts.

Returning to the video. Prisoners, bound and blindfolded on a green hill, await unaware of their destiny. The scene in the video, however, is stolen by the commanders on horseback who come from who knows what battlefield and what accomplished undertaking. It is evident how this video, like the others, was shot for internal propaganda, despite the precise guidelines of al-Baghdadi which, just a few weeks ago, banned the disclosure of executions because they would have hit the Arab world. The militants on horseback descend from their steeds and order the young terrorists to lead the hostages to the place where the charges were buried. The difference in age between the terrorists and the prisoners, much older, can be seen immediately.

Once at their destination, the two new ISIS affiliates light the fuses and flee the place. The detonation is devastating. According to a Pentagon estimate, ISIS could be defeated within the next 25 years. The real purpose of these propaganda videos should not be underestimated: to intimidate the local public, demonstrating an obscure as well as invincible force, but at the same time also making themselves attractive to proselytize. A sort of glorification of the tactics and of the chosen soldiers of the Caliphate who do not know pity.

The tactical analysis of the video

Young, very young. Some of them may have taken up the Kalashnikov for the first time at the video. The new Isis video allows us to analyze the details that emerge. On the scene there are ten to twelve terrorists. Everyone is dressed in black. Some wear a Balaklava, but the direction of the caliph, he forgot to provide them with tactical clothing. They are immortalized with sneakers, open sandals, flip-flops. None of them wear stockings. Strange that the caliph's strategists have ignored the importance of footwear, considered the fundamental equipment of each troop since the dawn of the tactics of the line.

What do we want to say with this? That in Afghanistan, ISIS may still not have assumed the status of a proto-state, remaining a terrorist group still seeking affirmation. In Iraq and Syria, on the other hand, al-Baghdadi troops have top-level equipment with supplies higher than those provided by the central government. But the propaganda effect should not be underestimated: the black dress that envelops the men of terror and the commanders on horseback. They come triumphant to the place of execution. The fog envelops the entire hill. There are no points of reference for a possible identification. The commander gets off the horse. On the latter there is no saddle, but a blanket. The dexterity in riding them is evident. The commander was taken up twice: the footage was then quickly remounted. Just on the "set" are visible two camera operators with small hand-held cameras. The Russian equipment of the terrorists (with typical decorated muzzles of the mujahideen) is put on display, but it is carried over the shoulder with those that look like real DIY laces tied to the ends of the weapon. If someone had attacked them, they certainly couldn't have fired those weapons that way.

Individual equipment as well as bearing show that these subjects have not received regular military training. On the other hand, we note a certain skill of the two bomb technicians who prepare the charges with bare hands. They have their faces covered and are the only ones who care about keeping their identity a secret. Scanning those few inches of the face left uncovered could also prove that they are not of the place.

The yellow and orange wires, you can see in a frame, are connected to an electronic detonator for a deflagration in safety. In reality the detonator will not be used. It was the neo-terrorists, perhaps to show loyalty to the movement, to light the fuses before fleeing and "enjoying the show".
