The United States is investigating a possible chemical attack carried out by the Islamic State against Kurdish forces in northern Iraq. The incident took place last Wednesday against the Peshmerga forces: the Inprite could have been used.

According to reports from Fox News, which cites US intelligence sources, the victims presented "bubbles" on the body, with details and symptoms that would demonstrate the use of the aggressive chemical. The United States - reads an official statement from the White House - they are carefully evaluating the situation and are looking for all the possible information that can show what really happened a few hours ago.

Even the German secret services confirm that 60 Kurdish fighters, during a gunfight last Wednesday, presented breathing difficulties. This would prove, according to the Germans, the use of chemical weapons. Both Kurds and Germans, however, could not identify with certainty the type of gas used. For Americans, instead, it would be 'mustard gas'.

If the use of chemical weapons were confirmed, it would be the turning point of the conflict against Isis. If the Islamic State really owns and, worse, has used gas in an irrelevant skirmish, the whole strategy of the Coalition will have to be revised. This means that if indeed X quantity of gas were part of the caliphate's arsenal, the United States would have no choice but to lead a ground force against terrorists in Syria and Iraq.

Last July, in another CIA report, ISIS feared the use of chemical weapons. It would not be clear, however, where the group could have obtained such weapons.

The war against the Islamic State could change in the coming hours with scenarios (especially in Syria) that are terribly dangerous.
