"We have 14 secret underground bases. If someone attacked us we would launch our missiles stored inside." Within hours of Moscow's decision to deploy a S-400 defensive line to protect Russian outposts in Syria, following the shooting down of the Su-24 by the government of Ankara, Iran (an ally of the Kremlin and Assad) communicates to the world through the general of the Guard of the Islamic revolution Hossein Salami, to have an unknown number of missiles placed at different depths in the terrain: from a minimum of 30 to a maximum of 500 meters.

Salami added: "If any country should attack Iran, it will receive our missiles in retaliation, automatically launched from our secret 14 bases. The one shown to the world a few weeks ago was just one of our oldest underground bases. Our most modern missiles have been deposited in the most technologically advanced bases ”.

Last 11 October, Iran successfully tested a new long-range ballistic missile called "Emad". Considered a variant of the Shahab-3, introduces a new advanced guidance and control system which would make it as Iran's first precision intermediate-range ballistic missile. Precisely on the new missile, the defense ministry comment was clear: "To strengthen our defense, we must not ask anyone's permission and the new 'Emad' is a clear example of our developing programs."

Iranian officials have always stressed that "the defense of the country cannot be influenced by the nuclear agreement signed with the world powers the 14 last July with the resolution of the United Nations Security Council". The 15 last October, at a very rare moment of opening, the Iranians showed the world one of the secret bases of the Aerospace Force of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (see article "Iran: aircraft carrier, super-cover and James Bond secret bases"). Built at 500 meters below a mountain range in Iranian territory, it hosts Qadr and Shahab ballistic missiles. The underground structure shown on television is "only one of the many secret missile bases scattered throughout the country. Every US base in the Middle East is within the reach of Iranian missiles ".

The revelation of the underground bases came after the important agreement reached by Iran and the so-called P5 + 1 (United States, United Kingdom, Russia, China, France and Germany) on the nuclear program. Under the agreement, international sanctions against Iran will be abolished in exchange for restrictions that, at least in theory, should prevent the country from developing an atomic bomb.
