Russia and India will sign the contract for the supply of five S-400 battalions tomorrow Arc.

The SA-21 Growler (denomination Nato) is a Russian anti-aircraft missile system designed to destroy all modern and advanced aerospace targets at a maximum distance of 400 kilometers (248,5 miles), a practically double range to the MIM-104 Patriot American.

The S-400 Triumph, an update of the S-300 series, has been in service with the Russian Armed Forces since April of the 2007, with operational use in August of the same year.

To date, the Russians have four regiments armed with S-400 to protect the national airspace in the Moscow region, in the Baltic enclave of Kaliningrad and the Eastern Military District. The Leningrad Oblast will also be protected by two S-400 missile regiments.

India is the second foreign buyer, after China, of the most modern Russian long-range anti-aircraft missile system (waiting for the S-500).

A standard Russian S-400 battalion consists of eight launchers with 32 missiles and a mobile command post.

China was the first foreign buyer of the S-400 system.

The parties announced the signing of the contract in the spring of last year for a value of 3 billion dollars.
