The first French air raid in Syria

As has already been announced, yesterday, 27 September, the French air forces have successfully conducted the first air raid against DAESH in Syria. Taken off the bases in Jordan: Five Dassault Rafale omnirole fighters, an Atlantique 2 patrol vessel and a C-135 FR for air refueling were involved in the mission that hit one of the IS training camps reported in the Euphrates valley, precisely to the south Deir Ez Zor.

The operation, which started at 06.30 am (French time) lasted approximately 5 hours, was completed with the destruction of the target that had previously been identified by NATO coalition forces as occupied and active.

The equipment of the Armée de l'Air that took part in the action belongs to the deployment of forces employed in the Opération Chammal, which involved a total of 2014 from the 700, six Rafales, three Mirage 2000Ds, three Mirage 2000Ns, a plane from Atlantique 2 maritime patrol and in C-135 aerocernna.

The French Ministry of Defense also announced that since 8 in September, 2015, again as part of Operation Chammal, 12 ISR (Intelligence Surveillance and Reconnaissance) missions of aerial reconnaissance on Syrian territory have been completed, in addition to the offensive raid mentioned.
