The coalition air strikes in Syria and Iraq of March 6-9

The United States and the military coalition forces also attacked the terrorists of the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria today. We update on the details of the latest bombings, which took place between 08:00 on March 6 and 08:00 today, local time.

Evaluations of results are based on initial reports.

Air strikes in Syria

Fighters and bombers have conducted 12 air raids:

- Near Kobani, six air strikes hit three tactical units, destroyed two combat stations and damaged a heavy machine-gun position.

- Near Kobani, an air strike hit a tactical unit and destroyed five combat positions.

- Near Kobani, five air strikes hit a tactical unit, a modular oil refinery held by ISIS and destroyed seven combat posts and a vehicle.

Air strikes in Iraq

Fighters, bombers and remotely piloted aircraft conducted 32 air raids:

- Near Mosul, six air strikes hit four tactical units, destroyed two buildings, two checkpoints, two vehicles and a mortar, damaged an anti-aircraft artillery station and a weapons depot and rendered an excavator unusable.

- Near Tal Afar, two air strikes destroyed two anti-aircraft gunners.

- Near Falluja, two air strikes hit two tactical units and destroyed a combat station and a sniper position.

- Near Kirkuk, an air raid hit a tactical unit and destroyed a vehicle and a weapons depot.

- Near Huwayjah, two air strikes hit a tactical unit and destroyed six excavators and a combat station.

- Near Falluja, four air strikes hit two tactical units, one combat station and three vehicles destroyed.

- Near Haditha, an air strike hit a tactical unit and destroyed a mortar and a vehicle.

- Near Kirkuk, an airstrike hit several combat stations.

- Near Mosul, two air strikes hit a tactical unit and destroyed two excavators.

- Near Tal Afar, two air strikes hit a bomb factory and a tactical unit.

- Near Qaim, an air strike hit an ISIS rest area.

- Near Falluja, four air strikes hit two large tactical units, a tactical unit and destroyed nine vehicles, two buildings, two armored vehicles and a storage facility.

- Near Haditha, an airstrike hit a tactical unit and destroyed a vehicle and a combat station.

- Near Kirkuk, two air strikes hit a large tactical unit and destroyed a vehicle and a bunker.

- Near Tal Afar, an airstrike destroyed an excavator.

Operation Inherent Resolve

The attacks were conducted as part of Operation Inherent Resolve. The operation aims to eliminate the terrorist group ISIS and the threat it poses to Iraq, Syria, the region, and the wider international community.

The destruction of targets in Syria and Iraq aims to limit the capabilities of the terrorist group and to design military and terrorist operations.

The coalition nations participating in the air strikes in Iraq are: the United States, Australia, Belgium, Canada, Denmark, France, the Netherlands and the United Kingdom.

The coalition nations participating in the air strikes in Syria are: the United States, Bahrain, Jordan, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates.

Separately, a US bomber yesterday attacked a staging area used by the Khorasan group, a network of al Qaeda operational veterans, which was preparing attacks on the United States and its allies. The airstrike, which took place near Aleppo, Syria, hit a large tactical unit and destroyed four buildings and three tents.
