The symbol helicopter of the Vietnam War, the Bell UH-1H Huey, could soon fly unmanned.

Aurora Flight Sciences has announced the development of an unmanned version of the multi-role helicopter entered into service of the United States Armed Forces in 1956 and still operating today, thanks to its extraordinary and long-lasting versatility.

Deployed as an aid to the advanced troops through GPS coordinates, the multirole that in the Vietnam War landed Air Assault troops and evacuated the wounded from the front line, could transport logistic material or evacuate personnel thanks to a simple tablet.

It will be the TALOS system, Tactical Autonomous Aerial Logistics System, that guides him in his movements, allowing him to detect and avoid obstacles during the flight phase and in the landing and take-off ones.

The Huey TALOS could already be operational for the 2018. The Aurora, a Virginia-based company that has long been involved in the AACUS (Autonomous Aerial Cargo Utility System) program, described TALOS as an independent system, with the possibility of being integrated on any type of rotor platform.
