Boko Haram swears loyalty to ISIS

"We announce our fidelity to the Caliph of the Muslims. We will listen and obey in moments of difficulty and prosperity. We will respect the will of the caliphate in any situation, never doubting the words his leader we will follow everywhere, except in cases of evident infidelity to Allah".

This is an excerpt from an alleged video message issued by the head of the terrorist organization Boko Haram, Abubakar Shekau, last Saturday, in a sort of solemn oath to the Islamic State.

The audio message, with English subtitles, was posted on the Twitter channel near the group, according to the SITE intelligence monitoring service.

The message was posted on Twitter, a few hours after the last Boko Haram suicide bombing in north-eastern Nigeria, which caused 54 dead and wounded more than 140 people.

According to the Nigerian government, the Harams are massing troops in the north-eastern city of Gwoza after losing around twenty villages in the region in recent weeks.

Insurgents continue to lose positions repeatedly after clashes with the regular troops of Nigeria and Chad.

The president of Chad, Idris Deby, gave an ultimatum to Shekau: either surrender or death.

The Twitter account, with more and more frequent videos and the new media arm of the movement, are to be considered evident signs of the proximity of the Boko Haram group to ISIS propagandists.

Boko Haram, last August, followed the example of the Islamic State in declaring a caliphate in northeastern Nigeria, in an area the size of Belgium. Furthermore, the Nigerian group has also begun to publish videos of the beheadings. The most recent, published last March XNUMX (photo on the right), is clearly similar, in macabre outlines, to the executions of ISIS.

In previous video messages, Shekau praised both Al-Baghdadi and the leaders of Al Qaeda. Boko Haram, however, was never an affiliate of Al Qaeda.

It is a common opinion, in fact, that Al Qaeda considers the indiscriminate massacre of Nigerian Muslim civilians as "a non-Islamic action".
