The Taliban conquered the entire province of Kunduz with a massive attack that left no way out for government forces: they conquered the courts, hospitals and all government buildings. The Taliban have also freed hundreds of detainees from a maximum security prison. Confirmation of the fall of Kunduz comes directly from the Afghan Interior Ministry.

"Although they were ready and warned of the impending attack, security forces in Kunduz were overwhelmed by a massive offensive. The attacks were coordinated in at least ten different places in the city."

The Taliban exult in their official Twitter account. "With the acquisition of the main police base and the governor's office in Kunduz, the whole province is now in our hands, we come in peace."

The conquest of Kunduz represents the first great victory for the extremist group from the 2001. According to the first reports, the Taliban involved in the attack were also supported by the guerrillas of the Islamic Movement of Uzbekistan. The fall of the city, which has a population of over 300.000 people, marks a great defeat for the Afghan government forces, which fought against the Taliban with the help of the United States and NATO.

Even in this case, Western reports deny the government's official notes. According to the Pentagon, in fact, the Afghan forces could also have repelled the aggressors and regain control of the city, but in the end they were overwhelmed (the suspicion is legitimate: have they really fought?).

The strategic city of Kunduz is one of the richest cities in Afghanistan. The Taliban attacked the city in April last year, but were repulsed by Afghan security forces. Let us now await the beginning of persecution against those whom the Taliban call apostates and the introduction of Sharia.
