Interview at the Aerocarriage School c.te, gen. Fabio Giunchi

I do not have teachers or attendants but if there is a name that does less justice to the extraordinary activities of an institute, this is the case of the "School of Aerocooperation". The first time I heard of it, I started biased against such unattractive terms.

Reading and publishing news, however, I discovered that the courses held there are simply cutting-edge and of fundamental value in modern military operations. And in the future this importance will be even greater.

In 2011, during a visit to Camp Arena (Herat), I had the opportunity to appreciate the image processing and study center from aircraft such as the AMX, updated with modern digital pods, or the Predators. An epochal leap if we think that until a few years ago film was still used! Of that resource, I was especially struck by the ability of the operators: soldiers who protected the population and, not infrequently, colleagues on the ground analyzing and processing footage and image sequences to facilitate operations or prevent IED attacks and ambushes.

In Italy, the place where figures such as the analyst of remote sensing images, the operator of the operations room or the advanced air controller are formed - just to name a few - is the School of Aerocooperation of Guidonia (RM).

General Fabio Giunchi, the commander, welcomed us with courtesy and availability matched by the staff of the institute.
