The army blasters defuse a powerful bomb

The army bomb squad provided for the disarming of a war device, dating back to the second world war, found in an agricultural land in via di Mordaro number 1 in the Municipality of Imola.

The bomb, an MC-type airplane bomb of more than 226 kg of English manufacture, dating back to the Second World War, in poor condition and with an armed fuse, was found last 19 September and immediately secured thanks to the 'emergency intervention, on the spot, of the bomb squad of the army railway engineer regiment of Castel Maggiore (BO), who, during the morning, proceeded to carry out the very delicate operation of removing the spool, in order to render fully harmless the dangerous war surplus.

During the intervention, to ensure the widest security framework, more 300 residents within a radius of 1100 meters were evacuated from the place of discovery.

The military responsible for the operation was Lieutenant Cosimo Rizzo, an officer in charge of reclaiming the railway engineer genius, while the operations of defusing and blasting were carried out by a group of qualified specialists, led by the chief corporal chosen Giovanni Gennaro.
