The solemn swearing-in ceremony of the Students of the 230 ° Course of the Military School "Nunziatella" took place yesterday in Piazza del Plebiscito in Naples.
The solemn act was emphasized by the presence of the President of the Republic Sergio Mattarella, the Minister of Defense, Senator Roberta Pinotti, the advisor to the President of the Republic and Secretary of the Supreme Defense Council, General Rolando Mosca Moschini, the Chief of Staff of the defense, general Claudio Graziano, of the army chief of staff, general of the army corps Danilo Errico and of the commander for training, specialization and doctrine of the Army, general of the army corps Pietro Serino.
The presence of the highest authorities of the State, both in the civil and military world, underlined the importance of the step that the ninety young students, of which twenty-one women, have made.
The oath of allegiance to the Italian Republic, with the traditional formula "I swear!", will remain a memory and an indelible commitment in their lives, renewing and witnessing the sacred values that distinguish the Military Army School. Citizens who have always differed in spirit of self-denial, a sense of duty and a sense of sacrifice, which have led every soldier today and in the past to sacrifice the supreme good of life in the name of the Fatherland.
During his speech the Army Chief of Staff, Army Corps General Danilo Errico addressing the students said "are, the moral qualities combined with a cultural education of excellence and forged in the discipline and military rigor of this ancient school of the Army, which create a community of students and 'alumni', prominent citizens, successful soldiers, rather that established entrepreneurs or professionals, united to each other by a firm and indissoluble bond."
The salient moment of the ceremony was the symbolic delivery of the sword to a first-year student by a third-year student; the spadino, emblem of belonging to the Military School "Nunziatella", represents the important passage of deliveries, traditions and values that are handed down to the new generations.
The unique frame of the event was the monumental Piazza del Plebiscito, packed with family, relatives and alumni, who came for the occasion from every part of Italy to attend the ceremony, thus highlighting the solemnity of the moment and accompanying, ideally almost by hand, the students in this moment of growth.
The large presence of "ex-students", who also took their place on the grid, represented an ideal handover between those who were at one time a pupil and those preparing to become a young member of the "Nunziatella's great family ".
The oath saw the deployment of arms in arms in historical uniforms, the extraction of the Labari of the Combatant Associations and of Arms, the surrender of honors to the banners of the city of Naples, decorated with a gold medal for military valor, of the Campania region , of the metropolitan city of Naples and in particular of the glorious flag of the Institute, decorated with the bronze medal for the value of the Army.
The training regiment, thus constituted, under the command of the Military School commander "Nunziatella", Colonel Fabio Aceto, saw among its ranks the Band of the Granatieri di Sardegna brigade and the Drums of the School.
The ceremony ended with the parade of the training regiment and the numerous former students from all regions of Italy.
