Graduate day at Turin Application School

(To Application School)
29/07/16

One hundred twenty-three specialist degree diplomas were delivered today at Palazzo Arsenale to as many civilian and military students of the Strategic Sciences course. The ceremony took place in the historic headquarters of the Army Training Command and Application School in the presence of the commander of the General Institute Claudio Berto, the professors Lorenza Operti and Edoardo Greppi of the University of Turin, a representative of professors of the interdepartmental university structure of Strategic Sciences, of numerous family members and friends of the new graduates.

The gen. Berto in his introductory speech underlined the ideal continuity of the Arsenal "three hundred years ago forge of guns, today a place where the future civil and military leaders of the country are forged".

Professor Operti expressed satisfaction for a day “in which the efforts of teachers are concretized in the daily transmission of knowledge”.

During the ceremony the title of Meritorious of the Application School was conferred on Professor Alberto Conte, president emeritus of the Academy of Sciences of Turin, born in the XVIIIth century also for want of some teachers of what were then the Royal Theoretical and Practical Schools of Artillery and Fortification including Angelo Saluzzo of Monesiglio and Giuseppe Luigi Lagrange.

The graduate's day is an event that combines worship for traditions with the innovative vocation of the Army and University of Turin Application School in the field of education. Increasing internationalization of studies and reciprocal osmosis of knowledge between the military world and civil realities are the keys to the success of an Institute where, every year, over eight hundred military and civilian students, Italians and foreigners, are formed.
