From 13 to 16 July 2020, at the "Garibaldi" barracks and the training area of San Martino in Trignano (PG), the "Tenacity 2020" exercise was organized, organized by the 2nd "Cengio" grenadier battalion of Spoleto in in favor of the trainee officers of the 197th "Tenacity" course, effective at Training Command and Application School of Turin, soon to be assigned to the 1st regiment "Grenadiers of Sardinia" and to the aforementioned 2nd battalion.
The activity, carried out in full compliance with the provisions in force regarding anti COVID-19, provided for a orienteering on different itineraries with a series of activations (treatment of the wounded and first aid, topographical exercises, tests with simulation systems) preparatory to the subsequent execution of a tactical task - expeditious attack by platoon against enemy position - organized as Field Training Exercise (FTX) with opposing parties (Force on Force) with the use of the "MILES" laser duel simulation system.
The exercise set the purpose for young Lieutenants, to exercise the first rudiments of the Command and the decision-making process towards an aliquot of battalion personnel in planning, organizing and conducting a patrol-level activity in a context " safe "but subject to continuous activation.
For the 2nd "Cengio" grenadier battalion, it was an opportunity for a "back to basics", that is the return to the study of the typical infantry doctrine and its subsequent application on the ground, after a period of interruption due to the limitations imposed from the anti COVID-19 containment measures.
