Chief of Staff of the Army, Armed Forces General Danilo Errico, visited the Italian, Hungarian and Slovenian military over 1000, who from the end of October in Hungary at the Varpalota Polygon took part in the " Clever Ferret 2017 ". The troops of the three nations of the "Multinational Land Force", based on Alpine Brigade "Julia", have tested their operational capabilities in the field in order to implement cooperation between allied armies.
For the Army, the goal was to measure and perfect the interoperability of low-level structures and field procedures with platoon and mixed complexes in close combat exploiting the area of almost 20 square kilometers of the Hungarian polygon.
Subsequently, General Errico was able to witness a tactical act within which the "Multinational Land Force" military, including a platoon of the 7 ° alpine regiment and armored vehicles of the regiment Piedmont Cavalry 2 °, have worked together with foreign forces in activities that have never been realized beforehand in joint form. At the end of the exercise, the Chief of Staff of the Army, accompanied by Armed Forces General Janos Huszar, commander of Joint Force Command unese, declared the "Clever Ferret 2017".
In his speech, General Errico expressed great satisfaction for the brilliant conduct of this important exercise, which is the cornerstone of a twenty-year journey of fruitful cooperation between Italy, Hungary and Slovenia within the Multinational Land Force. A meritorious and successful initiative that has allowed us to achieve the highest levels of interoperability between our armies - achieved not only through the sharing of equipment and procedures but, above all, by the commonality of the values of freedom and democracy which are at the heart of the our societies - by providing an effective and flexible tool to counter future common threats. A best practice that is projected towards future and ambitious developments and has already attracted the interest of countries such as Croatia, Albania and Austria.
The great work sustained for logistical support of the exercise should be highlighted. The entire force deployed was placed in a single camp, which housed all the 1000 military men and women of the three nations. The complex structure has been set up quickly and effectively above all by the "Julia" logistic regiment of Merano and by the "Julia" command and tactical support unit in Udine, but also with the contribution of teams belonging to all the departments present at the "Clever Ferret 2017 ", further confirmation of the full complementarity between the operating and logistics departments deployed.
